How long has the Gardens at Columbine been open?
Gardens at Columbine opened its doors to residents in the year 2000. Darrel Schmidt, our founder, created a place where exceptional care would be provided to our Littleton senior community in a welcoming environment with a stunning acreage of botanic gardens. After 20 years, The Gardens continues to offer the warm and hospitable environment upon which its reputation was built and remains locally family-owned and operated.
What if my health changes and I need personal assistance?
At Gardens at Columbine Assisted Living, we cater to residents who need personal care assistance, which may encompass medication monitoring, grooming and bathing help, continuous well-being checks, personal laundry services, and stand-by or hands-on support with daily activities. We prioritize comfort and safety, providing 24-hour staffing and an emergency response system. Our basic services in assisted living feature three daily meals, weekly housekeeping and linen services, an array of planned activities, and scheduled transportation. Additionally, we offer a specialized unit dedicated to residents with memory impairments, ensuring a compassionate and tailored care experience.
What sort of apartments and amenities are available at Gardens at Columbine?
Gardens at Columbine Assisted Living features studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments each with a kitchenette, private bath, individually controlled heating and cooling, and 24-hour emergency response. All residents have access to the community center as well as planned activities, transportation and amenities such as dining, beauty salon and barbershop, library, computer center, activity and recreation rooms, cable TV, and the 3 acre garden and courtyard areas.
What volunteer opportunities are available?
We offer diverse opportunities ranging from event assistance, companionship, and arts activities, to tech tutoring. No special qualifications are required for most roles, but specific skills can enhance your volunteering experience. Learn more here about the current opportunities.

(Map Link) Our 122-unit apartment community (96 Assisted Living and 26 Memory Care) is located in Littleton where West Ken Caryl and West Mineral change names at S Platte Canyon Rd. Our location is convenient to shopping, medical services, churches, and just a few miles from Downtown Littleton (approximately 5130 West Ken Caryl Avenue, Littleton, Colorado 80128) and 15 miles from Downtown Denver. Close proximity to Chatfield reservoir near C-470 and Santa Fe drive means you can quickly access our facility from almost anywhere along the Denver Metro and Front Range area. Our community features beautiful landscaping with well-manicured gardens, courtyards, and walking trails.
