Staff members must receive relevant job training or experience, first aid and injury response, medication administration, and facility-specific training. Within one month of employment, they must receive training on assessment skills, health emergency response, and handling difficult situations.

Background Checks: Owners and administrators must undergo a fingerprint background check, with owners responsible for conducting criminal background checks on administrators. All staff, including permanent staff, volunteers, and contract staff must have criminal background checks.

Reporting Abuse: In Colorado, everyone employed by an assisted living facility is a mandated reporter and must report any suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation to local law enforcement.
